Williamsburg – James City County Public Schools: 

James City County and the City of Williamsburg jointly operate the public school system within the area.  There are twelve schools within the Williamsburg – James City County school system that serve more than 10,000 students.  There are seven elementary schools, three middle schools and two high schools.  A new high school and a new elementary school with open in Fall 2007.   The WJCC school system’s operating budget for the 2006-2007 fiscal year is $98,712,346. Per-pupil expenditures for 2004-2005 were approximately $9.397.  The WJCC School Division was ranked among the top 17% nationwide by Expansion Management Magazine, winning their Gold Medal for the 2003-2004 school year.  The dropout rate for 2003-2004 was approximately 1%.  Of 2004 graduates, 84% plan to continue their education.  James River Elementary School is an International Baccalaureate candidate school implementing the IB Primary Years Programme.  Additionally, there are two Governor’s Schools located in the area that serve gifted and talented students. 

 

Walsingham Academy: 

This Catholic-affiliated private school serves grades Pre-K through 12.  The campus has both a lower school (grades PK-7) with an enrollment of 441 (757-229-2642), and an upper school (grades 8-12), with an enrollment of 290 (757-229-6026). The student-teacher ratio is around 10:1.

  

Williamsburg Christian Academy:

This independent, interdenominational private school (grades PK-12) enrolls 311 students (64 in grades 9-12). The overall student-teacher ratio is 9.6:1.  Williamsburg Christian Academy (757-220-1978) is a member of the      Association of Christian Schools International. 

Williamsburg Montessori: 


This private school serves 124 students between the ages of 18 months and 5th grade.  The student-teacher ratio is 10:1 (757-565-0977).

 

Providence Classical School: 

This independent private Christian school has a current  enrollment of 97 students from grades K-8 with plans to add a grade each year.  The maximum student-teacher ratio is 18:1 (757-565-2900).
