Interstates/Highways

Interstate 64 and Route 199 are Williamsburg’s major arterial roads.  Other main thoroughfares include U.S. Highway 60  (Richmond   Road  / Bypass Road), State Route 5 (Jamestown Road / Merrimac Trail), and Route 132.   

Commercial Air Service

Nearby airports include Williamsburg-Jamestown Airport (2 miles away), Newport News-Williamsburg Airport (21 miles), Norfolk International Airport (45 miles), and Richmond International Airport (46 miles). 

Bus & Rail Service

Bus service, including the regional transit system, Williamsburg Area Transport, as well as passenger and freight rail service are available at the Williamsburg Transportation Center. Freight rail is serviced by CSX Transportation, Eastern Shore RR, Norfolk Portsmouth RR, and Norfolk Southern Railway Company. 

Ports

Williamsburg is within close distance of two major ports: the Newport News Marine Terminal (34 miles) and the Norfolk International Terminals (43 miles). 

Williamsburg Transportation Center

Owned and operated by the City of Williamsburg, the Williamsburg Transportation Center connects local Williamsburg Area Transport (WAT) bus service to national bus and rail services.  Amtrak provides passenger rail service and CSX provides freight rail service.  Greyhound and Trailways provide interstate bus service.  WAT service is jointly operated by James City County, York County, The College of William and Mary, the City of Williamsburg, and the Colonial Williamsburg Foundation.  Local routes and schedules are published online at http://www.williamsburgtransport.com/
