Libraries

The Williamsburg Regional Library, jointly operated by the City of Williamsburg and James City County, houses approximately 250,000 volumes at two sites in Williamsburg and James City County.  The Williamsburg location offers a theatre, an art gallery, and meeting rooms  (757-259-4040). The library is located at the new Williamsburg Municipal Center with abundant free parking.

Swem Library at The College of William and Mary houses over 1,276,000 volumes (757-221-3072).

The Colonial Williamsburg Foundation’s John D. Rockefeller Library  is also located in the City of Williamsburg (757-565-8510). 

Residents may also borrow books through an interlibrary loan system from the 2,100,000-volume NASA Langley Research Library.
