HUB Zone

United States Census Tracts 3702 and 3703 in Williamsburg have been designated as HUB (Historically Underutilized Business) Zones. The HUBZone Empowerment Contracting program provides federal contracting opportunities for qualified small businesses located in distressed areas. Fostering the growth of these federal contractors as viable businesses, for the long term, helps to empower communities, create jobs, and attract private investment.

Managed by the Small Business Administration, the HUBZone program provides federal contracting preferences to small businesses. To be eligible for a program, in general the company must be a small business (as defined by SBA size standards), the business’s principal office must be located within a HUB Zone, the business must be owned and controlled by one or more U.S. citizens, and at least 35% of the business’s employees must reside in a HUB Zone.  The program’s benefits come in two forms: the Federal contracts and specialized assistance. Click here to determine if your business is located in HUBZone- designated Census tracts 3702 or 3703 and to learn more about the program’s benefits. If you have additional questions, please contact the Williamsburg Office of Economic Development, 220-6120.
