Williamsburg Economic Development Authority (EDA)

The Williamsburg Economic Development Authority was chartered to encourage location and expansion of qualifying commercial and industrial enterprises in the City of Williamsburg. The Williamsburg EDA has successfully financed Colonial Williamsburg Foundation, hospital, and Center for State Courts projects through federal tax exempt Industrial Revenue Bonds (IDB). Other forms of public financing vehicles are available for use as well: Special Service Districts, Tax Increment Financing Districts, and Community Development Authorities.

The EDA is currently sponsoring a sign replacement grant program to assist local businesses and property owners located in the City of Williamsburg. The goal of the program is to provide grants to businesses and property owners for the replacement of nonconforming business signs.

The organization also conducts a Business Appreciation Award Program to recognize city businesses whose hard work and dedication make the City of Williamsburg a better place to live, work, and visit. Any person or business can nominate a city business for the Williamsburg Business Appreciation Award. The Williamsburg EDA meets on the second Wednesday of each month at 4:00 p.m. in the 3rd Floor Conference Room of the Municipal Building located at 401 Lafayette Street.
