What's New!

Dear Potential and Existing Business Owners:

Welcome to the City of Williamsburg’s economic development website featuring the latest information on the City’s business opportunities, advantages, and resources.

Williamsburg, the Colonial Capital of Virginia, was established in 1699 and celebrated its 300th Anniversary in 1999. Called by President Roosevelt, "the most historic avenue in America," Williamsburg’s Duke of Gloucester Street anchors America’s premier outdoor living museum, the Colonial Williamsburg Foundation. Each year hundreds of thousands of visitors flock to Colonial Williamsburg to experience 18th century America. A stroll down Duke of Gloucester Street offers the inspiration of Colonial Williamsburg with added amenities of unique shopping, dining, entertainment, and culture. Nearly a mile in length, the street’s vistas terminate with the historic College of William and Mary to the west and the reconstructed colonial Capitol to the east.

Williamsburg’s prime location, educated workforce, and high quality of life make the City an attractive and engaging setting for any business. We hope that the information presented will serve as a helpful resource for businesses, large and small. Fulfilling the City’s Vision to “…become an evermore safe, beautiful, livable city of historic and academic renown, served by a city government—cohesively led, financially strong, always improving—in full partnership with the people who live, work, and visit here” is a continual work in progress. The City Council and City staff welcomes you to Williamsburg, and we look forward to working with you to achieve this vision.

Sincerely,

Clyde Haulman
Mayor
